The Parenthesis is a publication on Iran and the region, operated by Heartspace PR Sverige AB (org. nr 559545-4866), Stockholm, Sweden ("we", "us").

What we collect

When you subscribe, we collect:

• Your email address
• Timestamp of your subscription
• Your IP address (used only for rate-limiting during signup, not stored long-term)

Why we collect it

To send you the newsletter and related editorial communication from The Parenthesis. Nothing else.

Lawful basis

Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You give consent by checking the box on the subscribe form and confirming via the email link. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.

How long we keep your data

Your email is retained until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, your data is deleted within 30 days.

Who processes your data

• Resend (Resend, Inc.) handles email delivery and stores the subscriber list. Resend acts as a data processor under a Data Processing Agreement.
• Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) hosts this website and temporarily stores pending confirmation tokens (24-hour TTL) in Cloudflare KV. Cloudflare acts as a data processor.
• Substack (Substack, Inc.) hosts the publication and manages its own subscriber list. If you subscribe via Substack, your data is governed by Substack's own privacy policy.

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to any other parties.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Rectify inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with the Swedish Data Protection Authority (IMY, imy.se)

No tracking

This site uses no analytics, no cookies, and no tracking scripts.
